What stays on your device
Pratnome works without an account. Everything you create is stored on your device:
- your programs and their steps (tempo, bars, rhythm, accents);
- the practice screen's settings, so the app reopens the way you left it;
- your practice history: when each session took place, how long it ran, how many bars it covered and which tempos it reached;
- your language choice.
In the phone apps this is the app's own storage; in the web app it is your browser's storage for pratnome.com. Unless you sign in to an account (see below), none of it is sent to us.
You can delete a program in the app at any time. Without an account, uninstalling the app, or clearing pratnome.com's site data in your browser, deletes everything for good. The web app can also save a backup file of your programs; that file stays wherever you put it.
Your account (optional)
You can create an account with your email address and a password, or sign in with Apple or Google. Pratnome works the same without one.
For the account itself we keep your email address (with Sign in with Apple this can be a private relay address from Apple), the sign-in methods you use, a random user ID, and when the account was created and last used. A password is never stored in readable form. If you use Apple or Google, they tell us only that it is you and your email address; we receive no password from them.
While you are signed in, a copy of your programs, the practice screen's settings and your practice history is kept in your account, so they are backed up and stay the same on every device you sign in on. What was already on the device when you signed in is added to your account. Your language choice is not synced.
We use Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) for this; Google processes the data for us as our service provider, also outside your country, for example in the United States. Each account can read and change only its own data. We send emails only about the account itself: confirming your address and resetting your password.
We process this data to provide the account you asked for (GDPR Article 6(1)(b); KVKK Article 5(2)(c)), and keep it until you delete the account. You can delete it at any time under Account in the app: the account and its copy of your data are deleted right away (Google may keep backup copies for a limited time under its own policies), Apple is told to end your Sign in with Apple, and what is on your device stays. Signing out leaves your data on the device and in your account. For analytics, only the fact that someone signed in, signed out or created or deleted an account is recorded, with the method (email, Apple or Google) — never your user ID or email address.
Apple Watch
If you use the Watch app, your iPhone and your Apple Watch exchange the current session (tempo, bar, beat and step) and the names of your programs, so you can follow a session and start a program from your wrist. This goes directly between your own devices through Apple's WatchConnectivity; it does not reach us.
Sharing a program
When you share a program, the program itself is packed into the link or code; no copy is stored anywhere else. Anyone who has the link can see that program, so share it only with the people you choose. Opening a shared link shows a preview first, and nothing is saved until you confirm.
Voice tempo announcements
If you turn on voice announcements, the new tempo is spoken by your device's text-to-speech. Only the number is spoken. In some browsers the voice may be provided online by the browser's maker, under that company's own policy.
Advertising
Pratnome is free and shows banner ads from Google: AdMob in the phone apps and Google AdSense on the web.
In the phone apps we request non-personalized ads only, so ads are not chosen from your interests or history. Google may still process technical data — such as your device's advertising identifier, your IP address, an approximate location derived from it and your interactions with ads — to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud.
On the web, Google may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it, for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, you are asked for your consent first and can change your choice later.
We do not receive or store this data; Google processes it under its own policies.
Cookies and analytics
The phone and Watch apps use no cookies. The Watch app sends no analytics; the iPhone and Android apps use analytics only if you allow it, as described below.
On this website and in the web app we use Google Analytics 4, but only if you choose Accept in the cookie banner. Until then, and if you choose Reject, no Google Analytics code is loaded and no analytics cookie is set. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we take that as a no and do not ask.
With your consent, Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<id>, kept for up to 13 months, and records the pages you visit and a few product events — for example that a practice session started, that a program was saved, or that a link into the app or to a store was followed — together with general information such as country, browser and device type. Google uses your IP address to work out the country; Google Analytics does not store it. Google signals and ad personalization are switched off, and the data is kept for two months.
It never receives your program names or contents, tempos, share codes or error messages: page addresses are sent without their query, program ids are replaced, and when something goes wrong only a short error code is sent.
We rely on your explicit consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a); KVKK Article 5(1) and, for the transfer abroad, Article 9). The data is processed by Google, also outside your country, for example in the United States. You can withdraw your consent at any time under “Cookie preferences” in the footer of this site or in the app's menu; Google Analytics then stops and its cookies are removed. Your answer itself is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, so that we don't ask again.
In the iPhone and Android apps we use the same Google Analytics property through Google's Firebase SDK — again only if you choose Accept in the banner at the bottom of the app. Until then, and if you choose Reject, no analytics data is collected. With your consent, Firebase keeps a random app instance ID on your device and sends the screens you open and the product events above, together with general information such as operating system, app version and device model. The advertising ID (IDFA or the Android advertising ID) and the vendor ID (IDFV) are not collected. You can withdraw your consent at any time under “Analytics preferences” in the app's menu; collection then stops and the analytics data and that ID are deleted from your device. Your answer is kept only on your device.
Our web server
Like every website, the server that delivers pratnome.com keeps standard access logs — IP address, browser, time and the page requested — for security and to keep the site running. Our hosting provider keeps them for a limited time, and they are not used to identify you.
The web app also keeps its own files in your browser so that it opens without an internet connection. That cache contains no personal information.
Permissions
The phone apps use only what a metronome needs: audio playback, keeping the screen on during a session, playing in the background on iPhone, and haptic feedback. Pratnome does not use your microphone, camera, contacts or precise location.
Children
Pratnome is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age where you live), and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Ads in the phone apps are always non-personalized.
Your rights
Data protection laws such as the GDPR and Türkiye's KVKK give you the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, and to receive a copy of it. If you have an account, you see its email address and sign-in methods under Account in the app and can delete the account there at any time; write to us for anything else, such as a copy of your synced data. Apart from an account and the analytics data described above — pseudonymous, and processed by Google for us only with your consent — we hold no personal data about you; without an account, what Pratnome stores is under your own control on your device. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time under “Cookie preferences” (“Analytics preferences” in the phone apps). For the data Google processes for advertising, see Google's policies. You can always write to us with any question.
Selling and sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade information about you.
