New: a drag-and-drop program lane on desktop

The tempo rises while you play

Pratnome changes the tempo every few bars on its own. You keep playing — no stopping, no resetting, no counting in again.

Deal with your instrument, not the metronome

With an ordinary metronome every step up is an interruption. Pratnome builds the same ladder while you play.

  • Flow stays intact

The change lands on the bar line, in time with the click. Your hands stay on the instrument.

  • Practice with a plan

A ramp, a ladder or a routine of steps; repeat it or loop it.

  • Open it and play

No account, no setup. Your settings and programs stay in this browser.

For every part of your practice

All in the app today. These are real screenshots.

Automatic tempo

Start at 70, +10 every four bars, up to 100. Rising or falling; stop at the end or start over.

Practice programs

A routine step by step: each with its own tempo, bars and rhythm. Save, share; drag to reorder on a computer.

The program editor with the Tempo Pyramid template open: the program name, 13 steps and the total time in the header; the program lane with a bar ruler and the step list on the left; the selected step's tempo, bars and rhythm on the right.

Rhythm

Time signature, subdivisions from quarters to sixteenths, swing and an accent for every beat.

The Rhythm tab in the panel beside the practice screen: time signature buttons, the subdivision choice and an accent pattern with one dot per beat.

Silence training

The metronome drops out now and then — fixed, growing or random. You keep the time.

Small things that help while you practice

Whether you're warming up before a gig or repeating the same exercise every day.

  • 3-2-1 count-in

Before you start or at every tempo change, with its own sound.

  • Session target

A time or bar target; it stops by itself at the end of the bar.

  • Shortcuts and focus mode

Space starts, T taps the tempo, F leaves only the stage.

  • History and personal bests

Your weekly practice time and the top tempo you reached in each program.

  • Share with a link

Send a program as a link; the other person previews it and adds it.

  • Offline

After the first visit it works without an internet connection.

Start practicing in three steps

  1. Pick a tempo

The starting tempo and the time signature.

  2. Pick a progression

How many bars between changes, and by how much.

  3. Play

The same metronome, in your pocket

Auto progression, rhythm and programs are in the iPhone and Android app too. No account needed.

Questions

Is Pratnome free?

Yes. It's free to use and supported by ads. You don't need an account.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Open the metronome and start. Your settings and programs are kept in your browser; if you want them on your other devices too, you can sign in with an optional account.

Can I use it without an internet connection?

Yes. After you have opened it once, the app can start and play offline.

Where are my programs stored?

In this browser on this device. They are not uploaded anywhere. You can download a backup file and import it into another browser.

Can the tempo change while a session is running?

Pratnome changes the tempo for you, following the progression you set. The starting tempo is set before you begin and is locked during a session, so a stray tap can't throw you off.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, Pratnome is also available for iPhone and Android.
